Green burial returns to the basics while honoring nature. A biodegradable casket or shroud made from natural materials like woven grasses, muslin, or untreated wood allows the body to fully return to nature.

This is the cost of LifeSource funeral services. Additional costs will be billed by the chosen cemetery.

Pickup of decedent and transportation to our care center within 25-miles. Additional milage charged at $3 per mile.
Coordination with local medical examiner/coroner, if required. Coroner fees are not included.
Cleaning, preparation, and refrigerated storage - no limit.
Dressing and casketing.
Includes 25 miles of transportation to cemetery. Price varies by distance.

Meet virtually or in-person to discuss our natural burial services. Once services are arranged, LifeSource completes pick up and brings the deceased into our care.
Documentation.
LifeSource records and files the paperwork required to notify the State and County of your death.
Care and Preparation.
Once in our care, we bathe and prepare the deceased for burial. Select either a biodegradable casket made from natural materials like woven grasses, muslin, or untreated wood, or a shroud.
Return to the Earth.
LifeSource brings the deceased to the chosen natural burial site, where they are laid to rest in a simple grave with no concrete vault; completing the natural cycle and return to the Earth.

What is Natural Burial?
While there is no single universal definition of a natural burial, there are common standards that guide the practice.Natural or \green burials are performed without:
- Embalming
- The use of a cement or plastic liner or vaults
- Treated and exotic wood or metal caskets
Everything used in a natural burial must be able to decompose and return to the earth. We use shrouds or caskets made from natural materials like woven grasses, bamboo fibers, muslin cloth, or untreated soft woods.

Is Natural Burial environmentally friendly?
Yes. Natural burials utilize far fewer resources than traditional burials. Because green burial avoids the use of toxic embalming chemicals, concrete vaults or grave liners, or treated wood and metal caskets, everything buried is able to naturally decompose.
Is a shroud or casket required?
By definition, natural burials do not require a shroud or casket. Individuals can be buried the same way they came into this world. However, each natural burial site has its own requirements.
Can I be naturally buried at a traditional cemetery?
You can be buried anywhere that offers this form of burial. Green/natural burial is growing in popularity, and many cemeteries are designating sections for green burial. LifeSource can help you find the right location.
Do you offer traditional burial?
Yes, upon request, LifeSource can provide traditional embalming and burial services. We encourage people to consider more sustainable alternatives, but at the end of the day, we are here to serve you and carry-out your wishes with care and free of judgement.
