These are the most basic services LifeSource provides to our families (also known as “direct” or “immediate” services). These do not include the cost of a ceremony/memorial, caskets, shroud, or cemetery cost. Each package includes:
Terramation (aka “natural organic reduction” or “human composting”) is the only form of disposition that fully transforms the human body into beautiful, life-giving compost. Life Source proudly partners with Return Home in Tacoma, Washington, to provide this service to Southern California.
Once in our care, we transport you/your person to Washington where the human body is gently transformed into compost over 45-60 days (time depends on the person's size). Composted remains are returned to the Earth and used to manage and protect Return Home’s 8-acre conservation forest in Washington State. Upon request, composted remains can be returned to your friends and family. The price varies based on the quantity of remains being shipped.
As its name suggests, you can become one with the Pacific Ocean and support the marine ecosystem with this time-honored ritual. The vessel departs from San Pedro and can accommodate up to 20 people. The round trip is approximately 2.5 hours. Free parking is available.
In this process, the body is reduced to ash and bone. Witness Cremations are also available for those who want to be there in person for an additional $700.
Become one with the open desert, surrounded by the iconic Joshua Trees of Southern California. This service covers the basic cemetery costs of natural burial, opening and closing of the burial plot, and endowment care to cover the ongoing maintenance of the memorial park.
Life Source will handle the care and coordination of services required to get you/your person to their chosen cemetery. This price does not include embalming (if desired), casket, outer burial containers, or other cemetery costs.
Is there a special place you want your remains to be spread? If it is legal and safe, Life Source will help you or your person fulfill your/their end-of-life wishes by helping you complete the necessary paperwork and secure the proper permissions.
Return to earth by releasing cremated remains into the mighty Pacific Ocean off the coast of San Pedro. Boats depart from San Pedro Marina, and the memorial trip takes approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. Free Parking is available at the marina. The costs of the scattering tubes or water urns are not included.
Have your/your person’s remains protect natural forests. Better Place owns and manages a conservation Memorial Forest in Lake Arrowhead to offer the unique experience of having your or your person’s remains mixed with soil and spread at the base of a Memorial Tree and used to plant new saplings. Think of these trees as organic tombstones and the forest ecosystem as a living cemetery. Memorial trees range in price. Engraved bronze memorial plaques are available for $500.
