At LifeSource we continue to seek out, establish, and nurture a network of dedicated end-of-life professionals and services in Los Angeles and beyond to offer the widest range of green funeral options. Along with our partners, we allow you to design a nature-based funeral or memorial that’s authentic to you.
With LifeSoure, there is no need to contact multiple providers. We coordinate everything so the experience is simple and you are supported.
Across every service and every relationship, LifeSource prioritizes:
These values guide the partner selection process.
Return Home is our exclusive Terramation, or natural organic reduction (NOR) partner, operating with a level of care and transparency that aligns deeply with our standards. Return Home personally manages transportation of the deceased from our facility into their care in Auburn, Washinton, ensuring your loved one is always in safe hands.
At Return Home, the entire terramation process is managed securely on-site by their trained team. Your family has the option to be present for a viewing and memorial ceremony, called a “laying in ceremony,” at the start of the terramation process. This is an opportunity for you to spend time with your loved one, decorate the vessel, and cherish shared memories in an intentional space.
Additionally, families are encouraged to visit their loved one throughout the terramation process. Depending on your preference, you can choose to receive a portion, or all the soil at the completion.
We chose Return Home as our NOR partner because of their commitment to provide every family with a holistic experience that honors the deceased and respects your grieving process. They are a team of passionate facilitators, educators, and advocates who seek to make NOR an affordable, equitable and sustainable option for everyone.
LifeSource refers natural burial cemeteries across the region that share our dedication to accessibility to green funerals.
LifeSource services include care, transportation, and a shroud. Cemeteries independently manage plot selection, grave preparation, and markers. We transport loved ones to the cemetery, conduct graveside memorial services, and can connect families with celebrants.
Natural burial returns the body to the earth using biodegradable materials and without embalming fluids, or vaults. Some cemeteries go even further by actively restoring ecosystems through conservation burial practices.
There are other Los Angeles-area cemeteries offer hybrid or green options as well, but often at significantly higher cost.
LifeSource partners with Captain Gary for full-body burials at sea . Services may be witnessed with up to 24 passengers, or unwitnessed. In every case, families receive the exact coordinates of their loved one’s resting place.
While shrouds are included, families can also opt for a biodegradable casket. Captain Gary can lead a ceremony himself, or work alongside clergy, celebrant, or family. LifeSource staff are present to guide the experience for witnessed services.
Every burial adheres to EPA regulations:
Captain Gary has commitments to accessibility and environmental stewardship that mirror our own. His vessel is also meticulously maintained and stabilized for extra comfort on the journey. The round-trip journey is approximately two hours, and Captain Gary often returns along routes where marine life like sea lions and seals, are commonly seen. He truly takes special care to create meaningful experiences for families.
Our aquamation provider operates in Southern California and enables LifeSource to offer one of the most accessible water cremation options in the region. Although the aquamation facility itself is in Palm Springs, the care center is located in Los Angeles County ,and hybrid vehicles are used for transportation.
We work with this provider because they’re independent, woman-owned, family-owned, and committed to sustainability. They use renewable energy to power the facility, and focus on lowering emissions.
For families choosing flame cremation, the same partner that provides aquamation also operate a clean-burning cremation retort that exceeds South Coast Air Quality Management standards. They’ve worked to refine systems that reduce emissions wherever possible. LifeSource also offers tree planting through environmental nonprofits to help offset carbon released during the cremation process.
Every partnership we maintain is rooted in the same question: Does this provider help people honor their loved one and the environment with care, dignity, and authenticity?
When the answer is yes, we build a relationship that supports families through one of their most vulnerable moments.
At LifeSource, you never navigate this alone. We walk with you. One decision, one ceremony, one remembrance at a time.
